Construction of our Opus 101 for Grace Church Cathedral in Charleston, South Carolina, is underway. Installed in existing chambers, the new instrument will have electric action and a movable console. Elegant new façade woodwork will be constructed for both chancel chambers as well as Antiphonal cases that frame the rear window. Installation is scheduled to begin in January 2027. Design work for Opus 102, commissioned by Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church in Naples, Florida, is underway. The parish is not only building a new organ but, in the interest of hurricane resilience, also a new church building, a copy of their present edifice but five feet higher in elevation. The previous organ, Casavant Op. 3091, was destroyed by Hurricane Ian and the church building significantly damaged. Trinity’s rector is the Rev. Edward Gleason, and its director of music is Dexter ‘Tripp’ Kennedy.

Our new organ for the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia was presented to the public in a dedicatory recital by the Curtis organ studio, which can be viewed on YouTube. Opus 100 celebrates Curtis’s 100th anniversary and comes during our 50th anniversary year. It’s the first instrument to have been constructed in our new workshop. Alan Morrison, holder of the Haas Charitable Trust Chair in Organ Studies, directs the department and is the primary instructor for its five students; he is joined by Jeffrey Brillhart, who teaches improvisation. The design of the new instrument for Field Concert Hall is a collaboration between Dobson and a committee of Curtis organ alumni.

In 2009, in celebration of our company’s 35th anniversary, we made an online exhibit of some of Lynn Dobson’s drawings. One of the most highly-regarded case designers of his generation, Dobson has proved to be equally at home in modern or historically-inspired idioms. Lynn A. Dobson: Drawings & Projects presents a selection of work from 1974–2009, and includes unrealized designs as well as built instruments.
